Event Photographer (Entry-Level & Contract)

Must reside in the Austin or Houston, Texas area

As our dog-friendly events expand into new yards (cities), our pack is sniffing out passionate, entry-level Event Photographers located in the Austin and Houston area.

Before reading further, only passionate, punctual, and dependable humans should apply. *This is an ideal position for a current student (or recent grad) in journalism, communications, marketing, photography, or media.

  • Aims to provide the highest quality service all day, every pawty.
  • Covering a minimum of 1 – 2 events per month.
  • Uploading photos within 24/48 hours of events to Google Drive.
  • Supporting social media photography.
  • Contributing and brainstorming photography ideas.

Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of experience working behind the camera and consider themselves team players who possess a professional demeanor. You will have opportunities to work closely with the CEO and have the ability to project your ideas and your voice be heard.

Perks

This is the pawfect job for those wanting to capture special moments of dogs with their people. BYOD Photographers help capture brand experiences that deliver pawsitive results in our dog communities, such as growing a community of responsible dog owners.

Humans who work for BYOD receive free membership perks (depending on age) as well as fun treats and toys for the dogs that they love.

Compensation 

$16 – $18 an hour (+ lots of dog licks!)

If chosen, photographers are hired on a contract/as-needed basis. So you can continue to shoot for yourself or others. Unlike other positions, we will not ask you for a non-compete.

Requirements

You must own a DSLR camera and be able to show our pack a portfolio of previous work.

If you are scheduled for an event, you agree to arrive on time and work the duration of the event.

Event Production Intern

Note: BYOD is an established dog-loving membership community based in Houston, Texas. Our pack recently launched the BYOD Austin community! As our mission expands into new yards (cities), we are sniffing out eager Event Production Interns located in the Austin and Houston area.

This is a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment that is filled with a lot of tail wags! As an intern, you will gain valuable experience with event coordination and implantation, especially behind the scenes.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to discuss marketing plans.
  • Coordinating and participating in membership registration at events.
  • Providing ongoing event evaluation through member contact and follow ups.
  • Managing the fulfillment of sponsorship and inventory/merchandise needs.
  • Implementing planned event activities and safety guidelines.

Your key role would include contributing to the development and organization of event logistics, daily planning, coordination, and interactive tasks where you can learn how to take action and lead behind the event scenes (and after) for a nationally recognized brand. *Thank you, Facebook, for the barks and recognition!

Also, you will work closely with the CEO and social media team to ensure communication regarding events are properly spread throughout social media and e-blast channels.

The treat comes in helping make BYOD Cities more dog-friendly. Our pack is willing to work with the intern to ensure that he/she receives academic credit at his/her academic institution. It is the interns’ responsibility that all requirements for school credit are met.

Interns who work for BYOD receive free membership perks (depending on age) as well as fun treats and toys for the dogs that they love. Interns may also receive mentorship on next steps and access to BYOD events and letters of recommendation.

Interns are required to  work 10 – 15 hours per week, capability to drive, run errands, and meet at locations for events. *Typical events can last for 2-5 hours

Candidates who are pursuing or possess a degree in Event Planning, Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, and Business Administration are highly encouraged to apply.

Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point) is a requirement.

Growth Management Intern

It’s time to play fetch—in other words, it’s game time!

BYOD (Bring Your Own Dog) is a fast-paced, growing community based in Houston, Texas. Our pack is currently sniffing out Growth Management Interns who are ready to commit 10-20 hours per week on a semi-consistent schedule. You will work closely with the CEO and other internal stakeholders to handle multi-channel communications and continuous engagement with our Members and “Pawtners” (businesses that offer BYOD Member perks).

Interns will help assess new opportunities, such as scaling collaborations, marketing, and social media efforts. Contribute to the implementation and management of initiatives once they are put into the market, including, optimizing current community initiatives, contributing to new member management strategies, and gathering measurement and reporting.

You must be a sharp, hardworking, quick learning student (or recent grad). You must have the drive to work for a mission-driven community that was created to solve a very real problem, “Where can I bring my dog and have a happy experience, too?”

Perks

This is the pawfect internship for those wanting to go on to launch or work at a startup. You will develop close relationships with local businesses and develop a good sense of branding and creative strategies for nonprofit organizations and startups.

Interns who work for BYOD receive free admission to our events (depending on age and current location) as well as fun treats and toys for the dogs that they love.

Compensation & Credit

Who We’re Sniffin’ Out 

You must be a hardworking human who thinks outside of the box and learns quickly. Interns must be humble enough to ask the right questions, and tenacious in executing and getting things done. Creative solutions are highly appreciated, but you must provide reasoning why your solutions are doggone good.

This internship will require an innovative mind to succeed and you must possess a Bachelor’s degree (or in the process of fetching one).

You are required to work at least 10 to 20 hours per week and work on a semi-consistent schedule.

You will work with the Event Leader on the execution of events in accordance with BYOD’s event standards and policies.

  • Participates in pre-event discussions via email or conference calls.
  • Distributing promotional products and collecting membership information during events.
  • Implementing planned event activities and safety guidelines.
  • Organizing, setting-up and breaking down event equipment and decorations.
  • Providing ongoing event evaluation and critical information to Event Lead (Pawty Leaders).
  • Assists in maintaining the inventory of promotional materials.

You will work directly with the CEO and help manage the Event Assistant and Event Production Intern as well as implement the execution of events in accordance with BYOD’s event standards and policies.

  • Enjoys public speaking and not shy in front of the camera.
  • Participates in pre-event discussions via email or conference calls.
  • Manages challenges as they arise by thinking on your feet.
  • Collaborate with businesses to ensure venue is properly prepared for events.
  • Communicating efficiently and effectively with teammates and members.
  • Distributing promotional products and collecting membership information during events.
  • Implementing planned event activities and safety guidelines.

Social Media Intern (Winter/Spring 2019)

Virtual Internship

This is a part-time, virtual internship and requires a minimum of 15 hours per week. Hours are flexible, but the intern must be available one day a week for the weekly department check-in.

  • Collaborating with Social Media Strategist and cross-functional teams to discuss marketing plans.
  • Engaging with our community across all social media channels.
  • Promoting some editorial and video content on Facebook and Instagram.
  • Researching and curating content and images for use on our social channels.
  • Supporting the team in tracking growth across social accounts.

BYOD is the nation’s number one membership community for promoting responsible dog ownership and was recognized by the City of Houston and Facebook. We pawmise that you will gain valuable experience in social media and marketing for a startup. *Perks if you reside in Austin, Houston, or Dallas, but it is not necessary.

Our pack is looking for a dependable, hard-working, and creative intern who is passionate about dogs and their people. In this role, you will have the opportunity to learn about social media engagement and new media marketing techniques. This will include developing your content creation and innovative mind to succeed. All interns receive hands-on mentoring.
