Big Thicket National Preserve is described as “one of the most biodiverse areas outside the tropics.”

  • Approximately 40 miles of winding trails
  • Over 100 species of trees and shrubs and 1,000 species of flowers plants and ferns
  • Great for bird-watching
  • Dogs must remain on a leash
  • Navigational systems erroneously guide users to remote sections of the preserve or to the former office in Beaumont
    • Check your road map or call the visitor center at (409) 951-6700 to verify directions to the visitor center
